At 2pm, on 28th April in the Council Chamber, Castle View (SY11 1JR), the Strategic Planning Committee will meet in a KEY MEETING to discuss the Smithfield Out-of-Town Development.
On Oct 28th 2010, the Strategic Planning Committee decided on a 6/5 vote to accept the outline application from Liberty Mercian for the out of town Smithfield development.
Apparently, the developers have now sought to change the terms of the Section 106 agreement: which is intended to mitigate the adverse effects of the development on the town. As a consequence, it has been referred back to the Strategic Planning Committee.
It appears that the developers have stepped back from their original agreement to fund the Shuttle Bus into the town for a period of years and now say that they want to run the scheme themselves rather than via Shropshire Council and Arriva – this brings into question their commitment to, and stability of, the proposed Shuttle Bus service.
Clearly, this matter needs to be clarified as it would certainly have implications for the town centre.
ATTEND THE MEETING
Whatever your views on this matter, you are encouraged to attend the meeting on Thursday, 28th April at 2pm at the Council Chamber, Castle View and let your views be known.
